Help me pick out my first radical fuzz, please and thanks!

Post by dallasisacowboy »

Alright so, I've been using an old, battered NY Big Muff for quite awhile now (it was my first pedal and to this day, the only fuzz I've ever owned) and it's seemingly kicked the bucket. I've been looking to change things up for awhile and I need some pointers in the right direction. I'm used to Muffs, so a Muff variant would be great or anything that can go from not-so-overbearing to completely overbearing. I guess I'm looking for versatility. I particularly like what I've heard from the Pharaoh and the Musket and the Algal Bloom and AB-Synth and the Dirt Transmitter and Hoof. I'm only looking for one right now but hopefully, my fuzz collection will grow by the end of the summer. All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for your time and help!

Blunderbuss is really great, go for it. The musket side of the seriously special twosome is a blunderbuss, by the way.
The Blunderbuss is essentially a germanium, silicon hybrid musket

Algal Blooms are rad if you love big fuzz with note clarity and also cool overdrive sounds, AB-Synth for craziness? Gnomeratron for even MORE craziness.

I can vouch for the SSTwosome being absolutely amazing. My favorite fuzz sound is either one of those or Sparkle Motion-->Eau Claire Thunder-->Robot Devil. I can't choose but the SSTwosome would be the cheaper route as you get a very flexible and absolutely brutal muff along with another cool fuzz/boost.
