Did it! My wife went out at 6:45 so she could be sure that she got it done before work while I stayed home with the little guy (eating breakfast and listening to "Immigrant Song" on repeat, of course). Then I hit the polls after she got back at 7:20. Rhode Island's a pretty solidly Democratic state, so I'm hoping that it goes for Obama, but after the last 8 years, I'm not making any bets.

Tonight is going to be a looooooooooooooooooong night.

Just got back from voting.

Big turn out.
In the past the longest line was 4 people.
It took about 45 minutes.
The line was longer after I left than it was when I got there.

Got used to seeing only about 10 or so people with 'I voted' stickers and 5 of those were related to me.

Those who do not participate should never complain, they get the government they deserve.

I really don't have much trust or confidence in any candidate backed by the media... Meaning, I'd only vote if I believed in the candidate and he/she had enough support w/o media conglomorates backing them... I can't help but be convinced any cand's that are given media attention are only given said attention because they aren't seen as threats by the huge corporations that own news networks (and weapon manufacturing plants)...

That's me, though... I was leaning towards RP and/or Gravel, but yeah right.

understanding that the popular vote does not decide the presidency, it is still important (and valid) to show up and cast your vote. for me personally, it's a message to my peers, my community, my country, and yes, the entire world: the last 8 years were crap. our country has been damaged, both inside it's borders and outside, and by casting my vote, i declare that i do not approve of the policies and practices that caused that damage.

so, maybe voting isn't your thing, and that's cool, but it is mine. it's a right we all have and i choose to exercise it, and i encourage others as well.

rock on!
