My new love...

Hey all, I've not been on here for a while and thought I'd post this conversion I did a little while back.
Basically I went from this-

To this-

A Squier Bronco bass into a Bass VI! A fair bit cheaper than a Fender RI, but all the fun and games of the real thing. Inlays are stickers, pickups are IronGears it has through-body stringing and stereo output (controlled via a foot switch with separate FX loop for each channel). It's called a Broncosaurus and it's convinced me to sell my four string bass and order a Warmoth Bass VI body and neck (I really want those extra frets, the only gripe with the Broncosaurus is lack of upper fret access). Sounds stupid-awesome through octave/fuzz/bitcrusher and three delays :D

Anyway, hope you good people approve :)

The neck is the original Bronco neck. I filled the machine head holes with dowel then reshaped that side (using a strat headstock for a template) for straight string pull across the nut for the six strings

I didn't really buy much for it- pickups, bridge, machine heads, nut blank. The whole thing is pretty cheap to do and honestly required very little skill on my part (never done anything like this before) so I'd recommend it to anyone who is curious :) If you can find a Bronco on eBay on the cheap you could probably make a top-mount, single pickup version (meaning no routing/ through-stringing drilling) in an afternoon for under £120. Mine was a bit more of a faff but not by a huge amount. This link shows a gentleman who took it wayyyyyy beyond my skill set- http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... vi#p816361
I'm only trying so hard to sell the idea because it's such good fun, and I'm annoyed I didn't do it sooner.
Will try and post clips next week sometime, I've been meaning to get round to recording some for ages...
