I'm thinking I want to add one to the lineup. any suggestions? I'd like something that can do the standard auto-wah thing plus get a little crazy if need be.

anyone use the Xotic Robotalk 2? what else is cool?

and I'm intending this for guitar use specifically - not bass so much.

cheers!

I'd definitely take a quick read over here:

Lots of good suggestions there, but if you want more lemme know!

The 3Leaf stuff is good -- they do a straight up Mutron and also a Meatball -- sounds to me like you'd like the latter. I have an original but it's the Groove Regulator that gets used most often.

yeah, I've looked at the Proton, but...I can't decide. I'm really hoping someone has tried the Robotalk 2. The two filters in one box thing seems radd.
Although I guess it can't do reverse or much of anything besides just a funky filter thing.

I've tried the Robo.... I didn't really dig it. It was ok, just not the "funk" I was looking for.

I have 2 Proton's - FANTASTIC, small footprint, and very classic sounding.

you wouldn't want to get rid of one, perhaps?

Proton's good, but it's a Mutron. Go try the GR2.

i like the DiscumBOBulator an awful lot. when you set it to sweep down ("reverse envelope") and turn everything all the way up it sounds like the Flaming Lips before they became popular. it also does trigger-ish synthy gargle, funky MuTron, and a surprisingly subtle fake wah-wah pedal when properly tweaked, and has a nice analog-y overtone series that doesn't add unpleasant odd overtones to your signal. it doesn't do everything some of the highly featured boxes do--i'd love to get to fuck around with one of the Iron Ether dealios myself--but what it does it does very nicely indeed. before i got the EMMA i was looking at a Groove Regulator, but the Emma sounded so much nicer i had to get it.

How about a Proteus/Prometheus? :) i'd definitely hit that

the best i've ever had was on the Pigtronix EP-1... just a huge sound :)

Spencer recently ended production on the GR2 and introduced the next version called the Wonderlove, it claims to be 'deeper and juicier' and adds an expression for controlling the sweeps. Really want to try one with expression now. :yay:

Groove Regulator and Proton are seriously nice, and the Xerograph stole my heart. It's not as warm or 'organic' as the 3-Leaf pedals for standard envelope filter sounds, but it cops the sounds ok, does so much more and is incredible.
