Does anyone know of any cool synth projects/kits?

I really like the quality of Dr. bleep products, though I ordered mine pre-built.

Oh, sweet website. The weird sound generator looks pretty cool. It looks like it's somewhat similar to this guy:

but the WSG seems a bit more cooler. I'm gonna have to keep looking at projects on that website, and get to building.
Also, anyone who is new to DIY stuff I recommend the Peyote. I've built it, and it's pretty easy. The sounds are kind of elementary, but still neat.
I did a pretty crappy job with the wiring, but you can see that the circuit is pretty easy.

The MFOS DIY Experimenters Board is pretty damn amazing! Essentially it's a basic modular synth on one pcb. 2 vcos, 2 lfos, 2 adsrs, 2 filters, mixer etc. Amazed it's not more popular.
Super easy to put together too, and you can leave out any "module" if you want so you can make it even more simple (eg 1 vco, 1 lfo etc.)

Digitally things:
http://meeblip.com/http://mutable-instruments.net/shruthi1Createdigitalmusic.com has some articles discussing both. Peter Kirn, the blogger at CDM, has a hand in the MeeBlip, but is pretty open about it and seems to be shooting very straight in describing it and its limitations.

So, can you pretty much add an LED indicator to anything without really worrying about current requirements? If I'm not mistaken an LED has a voltage drop of ~1.7V, ~20mA draw...
I use the super bright kind that are colored (so a bit higher requirements), and was going to add LED indicators for the power and voicing switches on the Weird Sound Generator. What do you guys think?

Totally doable. Hold on let me grab a pic of the one I put together

You can put LEDs for the rate of the LFOS too, and those blink!
I also added a master volume knob, power starve knob, and a SHO booster at the end for when it is starved and the signal gets too low. One of my favorite synths and I want to build another since I sold this one!

Whoa! That's awesome. Does the starve just do what it would to pedals? Kind of different textures? Also, how do you do a master volume (if you don't mind divulging that information)?

Yeah, the starve makes the chips act all weird and can get a lot more noisy than it running at full power. My favorite settings were on about 10-20% power! And the master volume is just a 100kA pot between the ouput of the board and the output jack! It's on the MFOS site. Totally useful as well!

I was just thinking about making a synth again. out of fuzz circuits in feedback loops.
Oh, where to find the time...

put a reverse delay in there and it will make the time for you.

Awesome, I think I may do that. What value pot did you use? I'm thinking of doing a three way switch rather than a pot, maybe full power-50%- 15%...
