i've had a chance to play each of these with just a bass player, so the tones are more discernable (except for the heaping of effects i use). i can't compare with other models, but i like the playability and tones of each. the tm is janglier and more crisp, while the jm has more quack attack and low end. i played a 50th anniversary jaguar yesterday and didn't like the neck at all (9.5 radius). these are my first experiences playing either a jazzmaster or jaguar and i'm really digging them. btw, i don't use the whammy bars--will probably never screw them on.
