I have been after a Fender 70s pbass for a while and saw one come up used but graded as lv3.
Nothing item specific but according to the site this could mean a few dings.
Anybody have experience of used through them?

I've bought used from them before and generally the items are in pretty good shape.
I bought a guitar from there that was "Level 4-Needs Repair" and all I had to do
was put a nut on the outside of the pickguard to keep the switch from falling through.
It cost a nickle to repair and saved me $200.
Worst case scenario, if you weren't fully satisfied you'd have to mail it back
and eat the shipping.
If you want a more detailed description you could probably call or email them.

I called them up but they could not give me any more details. I just went for it anyway. With the current used coupon the price was too good to pass up. Fingers crossed!
Since ordering the item I just received an email saying the item is on back order. I do not understand that as it is a one off clearance

That has happened to me a few times too, not sure why.
If you call them and ask them about it they'll probably tell you to ignore it and give you your tracking info.
The one time the item had actually been sold to someone else, I complained a bit and they gave me a
brand new one for the same price.

Cheers for the advice. Rang up like you said and they said it is processing no problem.

I've taken chances with them before - maaaaybe bought 8 things total.
Only 1 item was less than acceptable so, pretty good odds that it will be ok.

I'm a used musician.

Not all of my friends suck.
but seriously though, big biz usually has a good return policy, usually even for the used gear if You just underline YOu can't be held responsible for interpreting their shady description wrong if it goes wrong somehow

if lv3 is a chipped headstock, what level do you get to when actual problems start happening?

I am pretty pleased as I bought it blind, not knowing what the issues with it were and been after this bass for a while with limited cash.

That's a nice looking Bass! If that is the only problem I'd say
you did pretty good.
If you can get some wood glue under it and clamp it together
until it dries you'd probably never have to worry about it again.
Just be sure and use clamps that have a soft surface on the ends
to avoid further damage.
If you don't feel capable, take it in for a setup and ask the guy if he
can do it for you.

MF is usually decent on this stuff, I'm so glad they started selling the returns and ship/shop damaged stuff in house.

This is my first bass but I thought it worthwhile getting something decent used rather than a new budget one.
Now I have to get an amp to go with it.
What suggestions do people have for a cheap head and cab or good value combo?
Should I be looking for something like a BA ampeg or something?
