Well I have both a GK head and an Avatar 210. They are both still solid as hell, and have never failed me (though only being a 210, the Avatar does have it's limits of volume). I would most likely go for the GK cab though since it is a 212. That bit of extra headroom will come in handy I think.

Yup, if you're looking at 112 v 212, go with the 212. I've heard average things about the GK cabs, they're not horrible. And as far as tweeter/horns go, just turn them off if you're gonna use fuzz.

I only have a little experience with GK but I would still choose it because of the twin speakers. Yeah, just turn off the tweeter.
All the time, I mean. Just disconnect it

Any other suggested 2x12 bass cabs for around $400? I figured that 12's would be a nice middle ground for both guitar and bass
If I disconnect the tweeter, does it mess up the ohms?

Disconnecting the tweeter will have a negligible impact on the impedance of the cab. "Negligible" as in "it won't matter at all", not as in "yeah, I mean, it'll still work".
If you do disconnect it, you should prolly leave it in the cab just so you won't have an extra port messing with anything.

Cool! That sounds simple enough. So is that three votes for the GK? Looks like Musician's Friend is offering 15% off too.

I have that exact Avatar cab, and it's disturbingly loud for being one twelve. And, has not blown even though I pump like 800 watts into it.

Do you have the neo in it?

I wouldn't buy a cab based on speaker size, for one thing.
2x15's work awesome with guitar.

I've had a 2x15 which I enjoyed dearly. I'm downsizing for space reasons or I'd be all over a 2x15!!

Well clearly I need to read various forum posts with more of a mind to chronology.
As you were.

Wish I could throw my two cents in but I've never played on either and have heard great things about both. Six or half a dozen, to me.
