Bedroom amp recommendations...?

Looking for something that'll sound ok with fuzz in front.
My AC4TV(1x8) is the right idea, but it seems like the lower power settings clip too fast while the 4 watt setting is actually too loud for what I want--something to jam while the wife watches the karcrashians in the next room. (There's a V2 halfstack in there for when she goes out  )
Recommendations? Or do I need to mod/spend some more time with the Vox?

If you like the sound of the VOX you may just want to get a power attenuator.

The new Ampeg gvt15H is a badass option. Recently got one on the cheap from my GC pal, 15W head cuz I have plenty of cabs. Also operates in triode mode for 7.5W and it absolutely rules thus far. I've got a V4 too, of course they're nothing alike in terms of volume but they share similarities due to that unique Ampeg EQ, not miles apart sonically. Mine has the 2x6V6 power section plus that 3-band Baxandall EQ so you can dial in a shit ton of different tones/sounds. Runs very quiet, no hiss/hum etc and takes pedals wonderfully. Nothing I use on a big ass board has any issues getting along with that amp, it LOVES the pedals.

Guts look nice, Korean built (better than Chinese imo), tubes are excellent (EHX or JJ), and comes with a 5 year warranty and AWESOME customer service! NOTE: The gvt15 (head and combo) had some early reverb issue, hum from the Belton unit. It's been resolved but they're still not expected back in stock until June or sum shit. Anyway, they straight sent me a brand new amp after one phone call, just like that.

It's perfect for home/studio/jam and will get super loud for 15W. I run 2 Emperor 2x12's with it pretty regular and it screams, getting a matching Emperor Vert 2x12 built for it now. Tons of clean headroom but it'll break up pretty nice at the highest gain and master settings, nothing really high gain though. Reverb is good too, kind of a mix between a surfy Fender spring and a spacious hall. Really surprised how much I love this amp though I did get it for around $300 with that GC discount which was an insane bargain. Goes for around $500 in reality though. Then again, call Sweetwater and ask if they'll match a GC 10-15% coupon. They will, no questions asked, save a little....

Lastly, if you need added sex appeal, here's what I did:

I had some 70s era grill cloth left over from my recent V4 overhaul and decided to give this one some retro-stylings as well. Dunwich Nick hooked it up with a replica 70s era Ampeg "baby badge" which looks BADASS, finished fitting and wrapping the baffle recently, much better now.

Get a Ho attenuator and use your regular amp.
I can crank my AC30 when my wee boy is asleep.

I had an AC4TV at the same time as my silverface Vibro Champ and ended up just selling the AC4. It takes pedals way better and can still get pretty soft around 3 or so.

fudge. I've been reduced to headphones in my co-op. :grumpy:

I love being a home owner, but with an apartment comes a fuckTON of rules and laws. (essspecially in NYC)

I've already gotten several complaints when I was playing at what I thought was bedroom volumes.

I guess I'm in the market too, since I just sold off my Blackstar which was my "bedroom" amp.

I told my wife if we were going to buy a house it had to be in a place without any homeowners association bullshit. The number of available stories of Stalinist excess on the part of people elected to HOA boards, and who have nothing better to do with their lives, is legion.

I wasn't going to be reduced to using:

I recently converted a shed in my backyard to a studio/man cave.
One afternoon, I was out back working on soundproofing the shed when my elderly neighbor popped his head over the fence and asked what I was building.
I tell him I'm converting the shed to a music room, but he doesn't have to worry because I've got the whole room completely soundproofed so I won't disturb him and his wife.
"Well shit!" he says with a laugh. "That looks expensive! You shoulda checked with me before you bought all that! I can't hear a goddamned thing without my hearing aide, and I never wear it around the house!

I'm still working on sound proofing my basement. So far, it's not working. Hahahaha. Sigh.

I would get a little Acoustic amp. Do they make guitar amps? I dunno, but that thing is not very loud and sounds great!

Fuck head phones. I have too many issues with my ears. I seriously get headaches and shit when I use headphones and play the bass. I think it's all the low frequencies. If anything I should be wearing ear plugs. Sigh again. This is the first sign of getting old isn't it?
