Based on looks alone, I'd say the P, but it really depends on if you're a P man or a J man (or a PB & J man).

with the choice between P-Bass and J-Bass it's always a question of sonics vs. ergonomics. you'll get more tonal variety from the Jazz Bass due to the PU position. on the other hand, a Precision Bass is easier to play and hangs on the body more comfortably, particularly if you're < 6' tall. i play a fretless Jazz Bass despite the fact that it's really too big for me because it's the sound i want.

But in this case they have the same pickups and controls I think.
So its all about the necks and the secks.

If that P has the big, chunky neck, that's where it's at, for sure. But that brown is super duper schmexy...hmm.

same pups and all, both necks are easy enough to to play so I only want to know which ever weights more and go with that. And hope it's the black one.

A) That's not even a fucking proper P-bass.
B) Jazz basses sound like eunuchs compared to a fucking proper P-bass.

I prefer the looks of the J bass, but I like P necks better. The pickups are the same, so the neck and looks are the only real differences here.
