I see we're off to a fast pace right out the gate.

Yeah, snip, I think that might qualify as loping. Still a little fast for my concept of loping. Maybe if it were a little bit slower and more drawn out.

I think loping is a subjective thing. I started this thread to get some idea of what people consider a loping bassline to be.

Yeah, Mudfuzz, Cubans are natural born lopers. They may've even invented it. That's a great record (and I'm not always a Ry Cooder fan, but he assembled some awesome musicians on that one). I might've to listen to some Afro-Cuban today.

IDK if this's loping, but the bassline's got a nice flowing forward motion to it:
