soooooooooooo..... on my Dingwall ABI there are tweaked custom UltraLite tuners.... if i want to put something on the shaft of the tuning key do i unscrew the screw that is parallel to the shaft but on the side of gear to take off the tuning key piece?

Image

Grainy Pic Is Grainy.

only nice bass i have, so i'd be bummed if i jacked up a tuner on it.

murrrrrrr?

From that photo I can't tell if that part of the tuning machine is sealed or not. If it's sealed, you don't wanna be takin' it apart.

What do you wanna put on the shaft?

a little necklace i meticulously weaved out of pubic hair. maybe... 40% mine? the rest is a combination of being sneaky if people sleep near me and wearing bathroom camo in stalkee's bathroooms.

...... my wedding ring. lately it's been bothering my hand, so want to put it some place safe and see if my annoying weight gain is the cause or if i need to get it stretched.

yah. that pic sucks. it looks like a screw head with an allen wrench spot in real life.

Um, OK.

So, you want to put your wedding ring on a tuner shaft? You wanna take it off and leave it there every time you play?

Isn't there an easier safe place to put it? Can't you just sew a pocket in your underwear? Should be safe there, right?

i would guess that's there not to disassemble the tuner, but to adjust the lash.

I WANT IT PERMANENTLY AFFIXED TO SOMETHING I CARE ABOUT AND WON'T LOSE. i'm sappy.

from Sheldon The Dingwall - "That screw holds and tensions the worm gear which is at one end of the shaft with the button at the other end. The button is threaded onto the end of the worm gear shaft and held in place with Heavy Duty locktite. I've never tried to remove one of the buttons before but I've seen a couple of broken ones."

sooooooo....... yeah. not going to fuck with it.

Oh, OK. PERMANENTLY AFFIXED, huh? Where else could you put it? I can't really think of anywhere.

I know Will Cady from Source Audio does something with necklaces on the headstock of his Fodera, you could look at putting the ring on a chain, perhaps? Or, since you're in Cali, hemp or whatever you crazy hippies use.

You could take a couple strings off and run them through the ring and back into the tuner.

Just get it pierced somewhere, like your septum.

lol. all valid alternatives. but c'mon, there's a rubber washer halfway down the shaft (giggety). it's gotta pull apart somehow without destroying the thing.

Mssr. Cady's way........ does not appeal to me......

it did, before LocTite was used to affix the tuner knob to the shaft. now that motherfucker is glued on, uh, tight. and everything's trapped inside like the dude in The Cask of Amontillado.
