AMP Reverb vs. Pedal Reverb

Who likes their amp reverb better than a pedal? I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and I like the reverb, however it does not have a footswitch. Obviously, a pedal has more control and options. Just what to hear what others done. On the plus side, it gives me one more fuzz pedal to add.

I played a Hot Rod Deluxe in the store the other week and I really, really enjoyed it. Almost to the point where I'm starting to consider picking one up.
I've played with a few reverbs over the past few years, each of them had their perks. I'm digging the RV-5 right now, I just leave it in Modulated mode and it seems to do the job. If I had a real spring reverb I'd probably prefer that though

I like amp reverb better, but I don't even really like reverb all that much unless it's natural reverb. So, don't listen to me when I talk about reverb.
I guess it really all depends on which amp reverb or which reverb pedal you're talking about though. They're not all equal.

tube driven spring reverb sounds more natural than a pedal reverb and with the proper controls (Dwell, Tone, and Level) can have a solid level of tweakability. However, you need a lot of space, 2 to 3 tubes, and a pan to do tube reverb. Also, sometimes vibrations from the speaker and cabinet will find its way into the reverb pan causing annoying splashing and noise which obviously pedal verb will never suffer from.

I love old-style amp reverb that runs through a tube/tubes...for ages i was a Fender reverb and only Fender reverb guy. but i don't care at all for modern amplifier reverb that uses a tank driving a chip; i find a pedal like the Ghost Echo far preferable to the tank reverb on my Laney, which is harsh and overly deep even after i changed the tank.

My amps don't do reverse gate, early reflections, shimmer, or infinite reverb. I view them as different animals and I'm much more into the digital effect-y animals these days. Or bone dry.
I used to be all about amp reverb all the time, though, so who knows in a decade?

I love my amp's reverb, but like stated above, it can't do all the other cool things available now, so I use both! I want another pedal for dedicated cave/reverse reverbs... so I can have 3 at my disposal!

i prefer reverb to delays. but i love huge deep cavernous reverbs, and while some amps can get that, most can't. pedals are a little more convenient, and usually have much more than a depth knob. that being said, i usually use a combination. i keep the verb on my ac15 pretty standard, and once i get a ghost echo, i'll use that for the deeper stuff

I'm the opposite. I like delays better. I like to get my "fake" reverb from using multiple delays and/or flangers.

if you want the most natural reverb you can get in a board friendly package, definitely check out the Van Amps Solemate. it's a pedal sized full analog spring reverb.

I've got a 201 for which I need to fix the pan. Mainly because it messes with those settings, but not definitely not bad 'verb. If you hook it up to a mixer and run everything through it on a send, yeah, you hear that the dub guys used that for both echo and reverb.
