Once you get it open you should be able to see where the old cord is attached.
Just remove the old one and put the new one in the same way.
You can replace it with any old 2 wire cord you cut off something else or buy
some cord and a plug end and make your own.
If just the plug end is messed up, you can cut the cord and put a new end on.
They sell the ends and cord at any hardware store and they are really easy to put together.

went to Ace hardware and bought a new end, wired it up, and now it works perfectly. Thanks!
