So I have a strong love for Deftones and have realized on a lot of albums Chino uses effects on his voice and was wondering how exactly he does it? I've heard people say he just wires up his Shure mics with effect pedals., but I'm not sure.

I'm not a big Deftones fan but if it's on a studio album, I would think the effects would be added during production.
You can use "Guitar" effects pedals for vocals and get some pretty cool sounds.

I believe Boss, Digitech and a few others also make vocal pedals.

I use guitar pedals on vocals with a mic and an xlr-1/4 inch converter and it sounds cool.

Ya'll want one of these. Makes fuzzes and other "sensitive" pedals work with Mics.

or you could run a mic into one of the many loopers that have dedicated XLR inputs or line inputs padded down to the correct level. or use one of those little mixers, the Yamaha, Alesis or Behringer dealios they sell for $100 or less at the music stores.

Yeah, that's true. The Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer is only $50 with XLR ins, an effects loop, and a whole bunch of other shit.

i've considered a little mixer as part of the loop rig...i used to DJ in one of my previous lives and so i'm used to cross-fading in that format, and i need some way to way to cross-fade loops that's more ergonomic than bending over to fade out by turning the knobs down.
