fEARful Cabs

Hey guys, these are all the rage over on TB. And since those guys over there are always 10x cooler than you douches (sarcasm) I thought I'd do a little bit of a thread over here just in case anyone was actually interested. I didn't post this in the DIY forum because I wasn't thinking this would be a "check out my build" thread so much as it would be a "this is fEARful" thread.
Basically, they're for bass, keys, drums, PA type stuff. Not for you guitars. Sorry. They're supposed to not color the sound, leaving everything as your bass, pre/power amp, and pedals intend it to be. Loads of lows. And an incredibly smooth crossover between frequencies as the design is set up in such a way that the speakers aren't doing anything close to the extremes of what they can handle. They're also insanely light. My 15/6/1 should be able to produce the same volume as my Eden 410.....but it'll be about half the weight.
I'll be building a 15/6 and 15/6/1. I bought the deluxe kits from Leland at speakerhardware.com. This sends everything to me, mostly assembled, except for the grille, dampening, and wood. You can also get kits that send the wood precut along with the dampening, I wanted to save money. The cool thing about building it is that I'm getting two cabs of a great quality that I would never be able to afford assembled.
So far, I've bought Russian Birch from a local dealer and cut out the panels. Tomorrow I'll cut out the holes for the speakers and start assembling.
Here's the site, for anyone interested:
http://greenboy.us/fEARful/I'll be putting up pics as I go. As well as giving my opinion on how these babies sound. Feel free to ask question.

I've actually been really interested in trying out a 12/6 at some point. I really want to upgrade my cab (in terms of quality, not volume)

Well if you weren't in fucking Rhode Island. Hahaha. I could meet an Austinite halfway at a ILF get together.
I was looking at the 12/6/1 myself....but the different thing about these cabs is that there's no difference in tone between the 12 and 15. The ONLY difference is volume. And for some dumb reason, Eminence has their 12s at almost the same cost as the 15s. So I went big.

My cab is similar to a fEARful (15/6/no tweeter) and I love it in every which way, micing a 2 way cab can be a hassle though.

I don't need a mic. I've worked on my fingering technique enough to where I can throw my sound. You'd think I was playing behind you....but I'm not. There's a thread on TB about it. You guys need to get out more. And practice your technique.

I was told they sound just fine with effects if you turn the tweeter off. Or just never install one, which is what I'd do.
They're probably really nice. I'd be more interested in the 15" ones if the speakers didn't cost a millionbux.

After the grille and wood and everything, it'll cost me about $750 for the one with the tweeter and $675 for the one without. Maybe a little more or less.
I'm in a bit of a crossroads in that I love my clean sound with a tweeter but hate my dirt sound with one. So I'm building a 15/6 without one (as kind of my extension cab I can use for big shows) and a 15/6/1 with the controls on the side for easy access to adjust live.
I'm guessing it'll be another 3-4 weekends before these things are 100% and ready to go, but I'll try to post some sound clips of how it handles FX once they are up. And if anyone's ever in the area or we're doing a GTG, everyone's welcome to try them out.

Do they have any models/projects with just woofers and no mid-range speakers or tweeters?
Or am i totally missing the point?
I want to build a 2x15 using peavy black widows with switchable impedance from 8 to 4 ohms is this at all possible?

The only way I know of to do switchable impedence in a cabinet is to have two 8-ohm speakers and switch the speakers between parallel (4 ohms) and series (8 ohms)

If you switch between series and parallel you're switching between 16 Ohms (8+8) and 4 Ohms [(8*8)/(8+8)].
