What the hell are the best loopers lately?

I had a DL-4 for a looooooong time, but then got a Dispatch Master and sold the DL-4. I miss it. I found I'm not really into delay but I loooooove looping, and am always wanting my DM to echo forever, which is does not do. Also cemented my feelings on never ever wanting to use reverb ever.
Are the Strymon pedals good for looping? El Cap or Timeline? I think those might be overkill if I only want a looper. A few delay presets would be nice just for fun... like the DL-4 I guess, just geared a little more towards actual looping. I don't need to be able to SAVE any loops, but I guess most loopers probably do that now.
I'm just talking like basic loops with my guitar and a few other effects.
THONKS.

How many loops you need??? I use the El Cap and Flashback for one off background loops but if I wanna get cray there's nothing like the 2880... The El Cap and Flash are pretty straight forward stomp - play - stomp - listen and play over or repeat... The 2880's like a 4 track machine that loops...

Akai Headrush is the best one I've played with.

While I haven't used one myself, I love that the Boomerang III has multiple tracks that run independent of each other. Was so disappointed the 2880 didn't have that.

If you liked the DL4, why not pick up a JM4?

but aren't boomerangs crazy-expensive?

That Bob Dylan cover loop thingy that I sent you was looped on my El Capistan. It's a really nice sounding looper, but it's not very practical for looping. The looper is more like an extra function, not the main course.
I've read that the Boomerangs are where it's at but I haven't tried one

I'm still using a 2 button (double side) Digitech Jamman.
It's mono, but easy to operate, takes very high level signals without puking, and has worked well for 6+ years now.
I'd consider it or the newer Solo (if you get the second footswitch for optimal control) withuot hesitation as a pure looping device.
Of course, I have piles of loop options in my signal chain from other units that I primarily use for delay or signal mangling, but realisticially,if I want to loop it's the Jamman.

Yeah, I think that as far as loopage, I don't need a lot of extra horseshit. The Jamman is probably one of the cheaper and bare-bones choices, hmm? Neat.

Yeah, they are.
But it has a ton going on.
