Hey guys,

In my travels, I found this pic of a twee-covered pedal. Sadly the site it links to is an error page, so I have no idea about it.

How hard would it be / does anyone know how to do this sort of thing?

I'm guessing the corners are particularly tricky, and I have no idea how it would 'wrap around' on the bottom.

At least one of them is by John lyons from http://www.basicaudio.net/ so may be worth sending him a PM as he posts on here.......and is a nice guy too!

Doesnt help the thread or answer yer questions but that tweed boost pedal is one of the most beautiful pedals ive ever seen

The one on top with 4 cream knobs I covered for someone else. He built it...
I rough up the box with 80 grit sandpaper and glue down the box with 5 minute epoxy.
Glue down the top first. Apply glue to the box and press it down flat with a weight.
I drill the holes first and then cut out the tweed with a razor knife.
Cut a 45 degree cut at each corner. Glue down each side separately and hold the glues side
down until it's set 15 minutes maybe...
Leave the very corners for last. Overlap the corners and then make a straight cut through both
pieces at the very corner with a new straight razor. Then you have a nearly perfect seam.
Apply glue and work the corner seam into place. Hold it down until it's cured hard. There is no
easy way to do it, keep pressing the seem into place until the glue sets. You can roll the corner of the
box over a hard surface to make a rounded corner. The seam will be hard edged and rough until you smooth it out
with a round blunt object. You can use paint to touch up and stripe discrepancies but they should line up if you are careful.
I cut the tweed flush with the bottom of the enclosure. I don't do the bottom lid as there isn't enough surface area to do sides of the the lid.
I usually brush on amber shellac to get a nice warm tint to the tweed (the one above does not have this but the image below does).
The top and bottom ones are wood enclosures so I used wood glue to adhere the tweed.

Hi John, thank you so much for taking the time to write out all those instructions, they will be incredibly useful! I will let everyone know how I go, I'll be practicing on a bare, empty enclosure (or two).

Looking through the basicaudio pedal gallery, there are so many beautiful pieces there; I especially love the wood finishes.
