http://www.fender.com/products/modernpl ... No=0241202I'm kind of looking into getting a semi-hollow lately, but my budget would be around $500. Anyone know if these are worth it? Or is there something like it that would be worth it?

You should be able to find one around to try... I think it's cool as shit just like those other naturals Fender just came out with... If the neck matched also like this...

Yeah, I opine that I don't really consider that a semi-hollowbody.
I also opine that I don't really like maple fretboards.
Other than that, I wouldn't kick 'er out of bed.
(I would look for something weird & old & used. Maybe that's just me?)

I like maple fretboards. When me and everyone I knew played or wanted Strats I could only get the neck pickup to really work for me on maple-board ones. (With all pickup settings) the notes seemed to speak more clearly with good midrange presence. Conventional wisdom at the time said that was wrong, but it seemed to consistently work out that way for me. I don't know that I would still hold to that over a decade later, but it's always nice to try this sort of thing for yourself when you can.

I just don't like the feel of 'em and as strange as it may seem, I let things like dictate my sound.

For feel or sound, we like what we like. There's a real value in trying whatever you can to figure that out what that is. It's nice to be surprised when something everybody else despises and pays to get rid of works for you.

Yeah that thing is damn fine. If I didn't already have a similar bass I'd have to save up for one.

True. I've found I like the sound and feel of rosewood fretboards. Nobody's really ditching their rosewood board guitars in great numbers, unfortunately.
Guitars with microphonic pickups on the other hand ...

once again, we're in agreement. I don't like the look or feel or maple, and generally my sound is pretty bright anyway - maple fretboard just take that a little too over the top.
