El Musico Loco Siamese Scream - Opamp Muff (Video added)

I pulled this out of my larger Big Muff thread since I think it deserves it's own discussion.

I have an El Musico Loco Siamese Scream pedal on the way. It's touted as an opamp Muff (fixed at max gain) with a separate gain circuit in front of it. It also has Bass/Treble controls. I should have it this week. The box etching looks incredible.

I'm not sure exactly what pre-gain circuit was used.

El Musico Loco always has good etches...but those knobs...are hideous.

I was just thinkin' the same thing. They don't really go with that enclosure.

Yeh i agree.

Reminds me too much of the OEM knobs on squiers and ibanez's starter kit guitars

Probably the same knobs

beautiful enclosure. the idea combines something i love--the MXR circuit--with something i don't like at all, the op-amp Muff. such is life. other people will love it to bits, i'm sure. i'll be running my D+ into my Great Wall and giggling maniacally.

I'm assuming it's based off of the siamese dream tone... if so, then the circuit used was probably the MXR Distortion II. Seen here: http://ironman28.files.wordpress.com/20 ... b14006.jpg

That's what Billy used at least... but due to the lack of knobs it could be a Dist + or maybe a fixed Dist. II.

It's not a Distortion II, nor is it any MXR pedal, it's a simple Non-Inverting Pre Gain Stage.

When you get it can you take a picture of the guts for us? I'm real interested.

Thanks. I like how the picture is detailed enough so I can see the label on the battery, so now I know not to throw batteries into fires, silly me.

Well, my pedal showed up last night and the etching looks even better in person. It's a very cool effect.

Mine has completely different knobs than what are pictured above. I'll post a pic tonight.

I was able to plug in and play for like 5 minutes and so far I like what I'm hearing. The Bass/Treble controls give a very diverse range of tone control.

More to come....
