Share funny experiences with tech support

Post by Chankgeez »

So, I have a couple of the TC Electronic TonePrint pedals and I've e-mailed their tech support a few times with questions.

I knew I was in for it when I got an e-mail confirming my request for tech support. They referred to my inquiry as an "incident".

In my latest encounter I had asked whether there was any way to defeat the tone control while in the latch mode on the Shaker Vibrato. I noticed that the tone control stills effects the signal when in latch mode and the latch is not depressed. I only wanted the tone control to effect the vibrato'd signal. I'd wanted a bright bypassed signal and a dark vibrato. I guess that's not possible.

Here's the response I got from them:

"I confirmed this with our Shaker, there is no way to defeat this functionality."

I guess it's short and to the point? Helpful? Perhaps not. I thought as much before I e-mailed 'em. I was hoping they'd give me at least some small bit of useful info. No. Just no. What's the point of even asking?

Please, tell funny stories of your tech support woes.

One time I had a problem with my Warlock bass and called BC Rich to ask about a wiring diagram or something, and they asked me for the serial number of my bass. I started telling it to them and the guy on the line immediately told me that my bass was a fake after the first two digits. I disputed this claim, as this was a Korean made Warlock and even said so on the headstock, and I'm pretty sure if someone were to make a very convincing counterfeit they would not make a counterfeit of one of the shittiest basses that BC Rich makes.

I pointed this out, and pointed out that their online resources corroborate the fact that my serial number corresponded to 2003/2004 Korean Warlock, and the guy simply told me I was wrong, refused to give me any further information because my bass was a fake, and ended my call.

I'm usually the one giving the advise not needing it... I would think since Al Gore invented the Web that kids would look up the info they needed... According to a lot of the posts here and "other newb filled" forums that is simply not the case... I confused...
