Anyone have one? Is it worth $300? It looks and sounds bad ass and insane in the demos. Let me know what you think of it. I never see it used EVER! so I figured people that have it must love it.

I'd say you never see it used because the 5 people who are willing to pay $320 for a bit-crusher type pedal realize that nowadays there are much cheaper alternatives from companies with better reputations, Like EQD and Catalinbread.

plus EQD and Catalinbread know how to solder and build a reliable pedal. DBA's builds are.... questionable. some messy, messy stuff in there.
Awesome Pedal Store near me has had one forever, on bass it's pretty god-awful. and not in a good way.

Folks seem to like that Frantabit too. And hell, for that money you could wait around for used Bugbrand Bugcrushers to come up... DIfferent beast, but an awesome, sexy beast. WMD Geiger Counters too.

Geiger's are weird. sound really good, but the layout of the pedals a little funky. and i had no use for the modulation side. didna sound that good.
Frantabits are ANGRY good tits.

durp. GEIGER COUNTER. i was thinking of the Hexe BitCrusher III. my bad.
Geiger's pretty bad ass, but i'd wait for the version that's going to have save spots coming up. it's got crazy good sounds in thar, but it can be FINICKY.

I kind of feel about DBA the same way I feel about Zvex, some really cool ideas but the price totally turns me off.
Christ for 300 bucks you can get one of them new fangled Skyrom pedals.

i paid 175 for my (version 1) robot several years ago and for that price it's a great pedal. for 300????...not so much.
i can't get a useable sound out of the geiger counter. i keep trying and like what it does but it never sits well in a mix (for me).....i'm not given up yet though...

I have Behndy's old Hexe Bitcrusher, and I absolutely love it. And I even got a chance to compare it to the Frostwave Sonic Alienator, which is almost unobtanium at this point. And it did VERY well in that comparison.
The Robot sounds good in the clips I've heard, but not 300 bucks good. And I've heard horror stories about DBA build quality.

yeah. the Hexe is GOOD. a trifle expensive new, 'specially with the Franta out there. and word on the street is there might be a new bitcrusher pedal coming out soonish.

I owned a Robot for a while, it was pretty cool and could definitely make some very insane noises. But I ended up selling it as it was not what you'd call versatile. As for the build quality issues, I think that some of that is exaggerated. I had no problems with the Robot or the Fuzz War I owned, and the guts of both looked perfectly fine to me. If you can get a Robot used for a decent price I'd so go for it, but realise that it's probably not going to be a pedal that you use frequently.
