Friend needs a bass cab. I have a 1x15 with a blown speaker. Friend gets a speaker, can take cab off my hands. OR friend get's cab. Either way, I can finally start a band. What's a good place/way to find decent cheap bass speakers?
We need...one 15" that can handle 150w RMS at 4ohms.

Craigslist? What do you consider "cheap"?

Under $100, but closer to 60 or 70 would be best.

This is about the cheapest new speaker that still sounds pretty good:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/eminence-legend-ca154-15-bass-speaker/h67863000000000Speakers drop about 50% in value once they've been used so you'd probably be better off posting a "WTB: 15" Bass Speaker CHEAP" ad on CL.
I did that for an empty 215 cab once and had 3 or 4 good offers within 24 hours.

I always point people towards Peavey Black Widow drivers for bass cabs. That's what I put in my Hartke 1x15 when I blew the original aluminum cones thang. They run about 150 new, but you can probably get a used one for around 50 bucks, definitely less than 100.

Yeah I've always been a big fan of Black Widow 15s. My 1st bass amp 22 years ago had one and I loved it.

a used EV will run in your price range, 200 watts with nocoloration.
Black Widows are not bad, and usually priced to move.
In fact the old Peavey TNT loaded with a Black widow is my recomendation as sleeper amp on a budget to any one just starting out.
