WTF? Vintage Mustangs used to go for $600 just a few years ago. Ye Olde Local Guitar Centre had like 4 of them, all of them put together were less than $3k.
Is this their current going rate or is this a magical finish or something?
Maybe I should have bought them at the time.

The closest thing to this that's available for a non-criminal price is the japanese re-issue in ocean turquoise metallic (http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/mb-sdco.html).
I bought one here in Tokyo a few weeks ago for about 41k yens, which is maybe 500 of your yankee dollars.

I would NEVER pay 3k for an electric bass. That's crazy talk. But it is, by far, the sexiest bass ever. Aen's mustang is good, but this is better.

For me new instruments are huge investments. I know a bunch of people on here like accumulating low-mid price instruments and I totally dig that, but for me it's just one guitar that is perfect for me. If you feel that way about this bass, I'd say see what you can do.
