Crate B-150 Bass head for $70. Good or bad? For starter bassist.

Definitely not my first (or second or third or fourth) choice, but the price is right. I think it'd be alright as a starter, better than nothing.

A cheap bass amp is better than no bass amp at all. Crates are hit and miss. I used one of thier 15 in combos, it was pretty good. For $70 I don't think you can lose.

Yeah, I think it would be alright. Certainly better than my starter, a tiny Crate 15 watt combo. How badly can you fuck up a SS bass head once you exit the starter pack amp range?
Maybe that's a loaded question. Anyway, for $70 it may be worth it.
Also, I bet you it's heavy as shit and unnecessarily big

Yeah, that's true. We ended up getting it, just haven't gotten a cab yet so... :idk: I don't know why we didn't try it out at Music-Go-Round.

But yeah, RMS wattage for price is a good ratio to go by with starter bass gear, right? Really, I'm just looking for a bassist with decent taste in music to play originals with. This person fits those qualifications and is decent on guitar despite being brought up on Social Distortion and Green Day :whateva: (yes, I put both of those bands' entire careers as equal, I'm sure somebody won't like that). She also loves The Cure and Joy Division, so I plan to tap into those instincts.
