Just wondering...

Does anybody here have or used to have a board consisting of pedals made by the same builder? Or if you could would you and who would the builder of choice be?

If I had to do fill a board exclusively with one builder it would have to be either Dr Ryan's, or Earthquaker.

It would be a hard choice, because I love Earthquaker's fuzz/od, but Dr Scientist's everything else. It'd be a winner either way.

EQD is probably the top one for me. Love all their modulation/delay stuff and the fuzz/od pedals are cool too. If the board was just dirt pedals, it'd be Fuzzhugger fo sho.

I've thought about this and Earthquaker or Dr. Scientist cover ALL the bases and make great sounding shit too.
SS/BS and Iron Ether are equally badass but lack variety needed to fill out a board.

EQD for sure. my only quibble is that i can't get everything i use from them because EQD doesn't make an envelope filter, a compressor, or a delay with a very long delay time you can use for quasi-looping. but i could live a long and happy life with a board consisting of Chrysalis->Tone Reaper->Sound Shank->Sea Machine->[Grand Orbiter]->Hummingbird->Dispatch Master->Space Echo.

i really like the Dr. Scientist stuff, but there's something about the sound that makes it not quite right for me. i can't articulate it properly any better than i can explain why i don't like the sound of the envelope function of any filter pedal other than the original MuTron and the EMMA DiscumBOBulator, but when i hear e.g. the Reverberator i think "that's lovely...but no."

i really wish Tom would prototype a modulation unit, but given the current plethora of devices in that niche and the fact that his expertise is in fuzz maybe that's too much to hope for.

in terms of mainstream stuff it's really tough. i like MXR/Dunlop's distortion/fuzz, but their modulation is dreadfully conventional for me; E-H is kind of the other way 'round, and suffers from MM's party-trick mentality as well. Boss doesn't have any dirtz i like at ALL. if i have to use mainstream stuff i'll just use my PodXT with the floorboard and say the hell with it.

yeah, that's one thing...all the EQD fuzz i like has that kind of UK voicing, which is great but kind of limiting. i'd really miss my Bloom too, which balances out my Shank and Reaper really well.

Too hard to do. I would maybe go INFANEM considering all that's coming out this year.

one could also go for e.g. the Orkin Board (n.b. for those beyond the reach of this Feet Is Murder chain, Orkin is a pest extermination firm) themed around pest animals: Rat, White Spider, Big Spider, Ring Worm...

the Outer Space Board would probably also be pretty easy and have good results, as would as the Necromantic and the Generally Paranormal Boards.

If BriBri makes that delay a reality...
