I kinda run hot & cold with Frisell. Some of his stuff I like and some I can't stand.

You can poke around on YouTube to see what you like. I think The Intercontinentals is pretty good. You can't go wrong with that record he made with Elvin Jones and Dave Holland. Lots of people like Nashville, Ghost Town, and his new record of John Lennon covers. I guess those're good to start.

I think he's the only person I've heard use the Freeze well. Great demo!

He's definitely not your average jazzer. I think he kinda transcends that categorization.

I'd pay good money to see him, Robert Fripp, and Marc Ribot in the same room.

i've always thought of him as someone who's trying to make an electric guitar do pedal-steel things. i don't mean that in any negative way at all, and i think he's way beyond faking steel licks, but i think it's really obvious that his style is based on the sound of pedal steel. the reverb, the endless sustain, the sort of ECM Records glacial clarity of his sound, the way he bends stuff against a held tone.
