Two boards??? (Thinking out loud thread)

OK: I'm a bit high. This whole thread is just me organizing my thoughts so I don't forget them later. But feel to give suggestions and to stick your noses right on in. I'm looking for some semi-serious feeback.

I know that plenty of people have done this, but I'm starting to thing, in the distant future I might want a more "sorta classic rock-ey" leaning board while having a separate far more, eh idk, post-punk, noise post-rock, shoegaze centered. Also, I have two separate amp setups (a Vox AC15 w/ a 2x12 extension; a Carvin all-tube 50w/100w head through a set of 4x12" EXH speakers), so I have lots of options there. Also a 15" crate (just) cab if anybody's interested or has a 15" speaker. ;) (I'm not afraid to get all >800in^2 of speaker rocking either)

I know other people have done these kind of things all the time and I'm just a bit curious how they go about organizing it (apart from just messing around with the actual pedals To be specific I have all of this...
Image

Everything in order:
Wah-wah, (it's a Vox standard if you can't see), I'm thinking at the beginning of the rock board chain.
Germainium OD should probably be on the "rock" board.
Phantom Ring goes shoegaze for certain.
Sovtek big muff I could fit onto either board and still love it all the same.
That's an Ibanez DL-7 (stero delay!)
*MXR classic 108 fuzz. Basically a fuzz face clone with a buffer. This would go on the rock board, unless I could trade it for some kind of cool, slightly wilder OD or something i could put on the noise board (*hint*hint*)
Velcroar, nasty fuzz, shoegaze for sure.
Tokai FL-1 Flanger, nice versitile, very good for post-punk, gazey stuff.
EXH Memory Boy. I think we all know this one, gaze for sure. I mostly use it as a chorus anyway.
Ibanez DL-4, I'm not sure if I should keep that on the rock board because I can get some decent sounds with it, but it is very versatile and I can get some great oscillation. ALSO, has stereo outputs

outside of chain:
Fender PT-1(beginning?)
after chain
Old ass EHX 10-ban EQ
Noise gate
Vox footswitch would have to go with the Vox board (classic rock one?). Controls reverb and tremolo.
Carvin channel switch (not such a big fan of the dirty channel unless I'm playing some suuuuuuuuupper nasty, bassy effect.

I also own an ABY and a Behringer muff clone I intended to circuit bend but new got around to.

So far I have (theoretically)
Rock Board
Vox Wah
EXH OD
(?)Sovteck BMP
MXR Fuzz
(?)DL-4
w/Vox foot switch

Noise-ish Board
Phantom Ring
Velcroar
(?)Sovtek MBP
Tokai FL-1
Memory Boy
(?)DL-4

TL;DR I'm reorganizing my board into two despite not have the funds to even buy another board like material not to mention power supply methods required. But I'm just having fun dreaming, so any input, ideas are welcome.

But also if you're interested in a 1x15 bass cab with a blown speaker or have a working 1x15 speaker you'd like to sell, hit me up. If you're also interested in trading some kind of dirt for an MXR fuzz face.

Not I would mess around with this myself if I ever had a decent chance to play guitar loud enough to actually hear my effects.

So go nuts ILF, I want the greatest of your imaginations

I'm gearing up for three boards...

1) bass fuzz board
2) main fuzz board
3) modulation board

All on Pedaltrain minis.

this is what i've done thus far...

this is my full common men/ tulpa effect rig

Image

i'm thinking of downsizing my guitar rig (on the ground) because well, after much much thought, i just don't really use half of that stuff anymore, and it would be better suited in the noise rig...

also, i plan on freelancing in the near future as a guitarist, so i want something smaller to carry around :)

Let me reiterate. I'm working towards that. What would you suggest as the next step? Remember stereo sound and stereo delay are always an option. I'm thinking about a blowing up or a sparkle drive, maybe a holy grail to go through my carvin as the verb onboard is pretty week.

Oh and what's a good thing to do as far as power? Right now I'm daisy-chaining a 1-spot and I know that won't last.

i want to do a small/compact/sane board for stuff where i don't want to overly frighten people, but i'd have to buy more boxes to do it because i don't want to have to move stuff back and forth and i'm not funded at the moment. it'd necessarily have to duplicate some of the stuff, or at least some of the general territory as the stuff, on my main board, e.g. i have to have a Distortion+ or something else that lives in that neighborhood like an AstroTone. it'd be nice, though, because i could use some of the stuff i'm not using with the big board and looping rig like the Velcroar.

Ok, here's what we did!

First, I got the "regular" board put together, the one like Dubkat said won't overly frighten people. It also gave me a chance to put my wah back on a board! Was sick of dragging that around separately. I'm not sure if I'll keep the Flanger on that board, though. My cover band does play Boys Don't Cry and I feel guilty playing The Cure without flange, or having a board with no modulation. Plus it fits just fine so whatevs.

Second, I went to St Vincent de Paul's (2nd hand shop like Goodwill) and picked up this beauty for a dollar.

What do you know?! It's a perfect fit for my experimental board with may just enough room for a Baby Thundaaaa or a Blowing up or something heavier if I try to squeeze it in.
Image

Here's the whole gang for now. I also have an ABY, stereo delay and and Behringer muff clone I'd love to convert into some kind of monstrous feedback looper.

We so excited!

EDIT: Also, there's now a Fuzzhugger sticker on the briefcase. Definitely gotta get my hands on one of them ILF ones.

It looks tome as though you have it bang on right there, I would move either the muff or the MXR to the gaze board. But that's your call.

Absolutely. I'd have the muff on the gaze board if I actually had a 'gazey band to play with rather than my semi-active covers one. I'm thinking about putting a Baby Thundaa or musket or something that would fit physically (I'm not attached to the EQ) and bring the deep, heavy, muffish tones in between the Phantom Ring and the Velcroar.

Oh, and just to note there's still a Noise Gate and 10-band MXR EQ (one of those old honkin' blue ones :D ) being played at the end of either of these chains.

Keep the ideas comin'. I really have no budget, but I'm still open to reasonable ideas to save for in the future (unless somebody wants to pay $200 for an ABY ;) )

I have no comment here other than to say it is awesome to see someone rocking the Germanium OD. That was a really really fucking cool pedal that I actually miss more than a lot more expensive pedals I've owned in the past. I might need to pick another one of those up again.

I wasn't trying to be a dick. going for the Croc Dundie Reference

anyway yeah so how mine is set up.

I go into the "IN" jack on the pedal pad then the first pedal is my Samurai Switch. That runs out to the Patch Pad on the left where I use Channel 2 of the Stereo Routing as my quick connection for the Optional Noise Board (the white one)

So I have my main board and I can plug in a feedback loop in 2 seconds if it's gonna be one of THOSE nights :)

The patch pad also allows me to have a quick jack for my expression pedal on the M9 but you can do tons of stuff. I'd recommend it as a Main board to anyone. you can get them pretty reasonably priced too

as far as power goes I just went from a boss daisy chain to a Pedal Power 2 Plus. it's amazing how quite things get with isolated power. It's well worth it. If you need to power a lot of pedals you can always run True Bypass pedals or Low current requirement (fuzz pedals) off a daisy chain on just one outlet. that way you still have 7 more outputs.

i'm guessing the flanger hoax is to die for in a feedback loop?
