Just curious of peoples thoughts. I came up with this question after seeking after the shin ei fuzz wah pedal famously used by The Jesus & Mary Chain. After not being able to find one on ebay for a couple of weeks I have been seeking clones etc, but have found little. If I got a univibe superfuzz and say, just a vox wah (preferable v846) would I get a simular sound? Or would the tone of the wah throw off the sound that I'm trying to mimic? Outside of that specific question I'm just curious to see what people think about using any form of fuz/wah pedal, vs simply using a fuzz pedal and wah pedal simultaneously

Well Fuzz-wahs usually have the fuzz circuit before the wah (unless I'm horribly mistaken), so you could probably imitate the sound with separate pedals if you kept the order like that.

I prefer fuzzwahs for the reason that the wahs are usually shitty because they're made to go with the fuzz. The exceptions are usually expensive (dam wow fuzz type of pedal). So if you want a useable wah you should piece them out.

I suggest old fender fuzzwahs, color sound fuzz wah swell, and as you mentioned various Shinei ones.

Fuzz + wah may not sound exactly the same as a fuzz-wah, but I think it sounds close enough. Yes, similar. Probably a little more/less controllable to use fuzz + wah.

I have a Dunlop 535Q Chrome Wah that has built in Fuzz and a knob on the side to switch between 6 different Wah sounds... I hardly ever use the built in Fuzz (which sounds good) that much but I always switch various Fuzz's before it... Some Wahs sound better than others of course and I usually always end up using one of the Bass versions cause they sound the best with Fuzz... There are other Wahs that let you vary the Q or sweep so I would look at some of those...
