What is a good germanium fuzz face that has a tone control as well.

Tonebender? I don't get the concept of a Fuzz Face with a tone control. I guess you could load some npn GE's into a Tweak Fuzz, but that's not the sort of tone control that most people think of.

Ghost Effects is your man.
HIs mind rocker (tonebender 1.5/ge fuzzface) has a filter/tone control. The stock one has no fuzz knob (fuzz maxed) but he can do up a 3 knobber if you ask.

What else we got? How about without a tone knob? And no bias knob either, 'cuz that's for pussies.

I'd kinda like something that sounds like a Devi US Fuzz without the gate.

As far as I can tell, the Dream Crusher sounds pretty darned good. Really gritty. I'm the kinda guy that likes to use Fuzz Faces with the fuzz maxed, and that's pretty much the only way I use it. I want it mostly for leads. My Rat is great, but I'd like a little more girth.

Does the TAFM sound much like a Fuzz Face?

I don't know about sounding like a Fuzz Face, but I'm going to stop you right there and say get a TAFM.

I didn't think the TAFM sounded like a Fuzz Face when I tried one but it definately sounded sweet.

PigeonFx sells a board for a Fuzz Face with a tone control. You could DIY one of those up or get someone to build it for you. I made a Ge Fuzz Face with their regular FF board and a nice set of AC128s and it sounded freakin amazing.

Nope, but it is awesome in a different way. I don't think tone controls on fuzz faces are necessary, and totally second the recommendation of Ghost FX. Also you could DIY one? It's a very simple circuit, although getting good Ge transistors can be a hassle apparently, Si fuzz faces sound great too though.

There's a dude on eBay that sells matched sets of AC128s for Fuzz Faces. I used a pair and they sounded great. You can get them from smallbear too, so even if you don't have the equipment to test and match them you can get a nice matched set pretty easily.

+1 on the Ghost Effects Mind Rocker :thumb:

i see no need on the 1.5 / Fuzz Face pedals to have a tone control :idk:, so i would be interested why you want one :hello:

The OP wants a tone knob, not me. Not sure if he's still around.

I don't want a tone knob because I don't want it to get in the way of the original intent of the Fuzz Face. My frontrunners right now are the MJM London Fuzz and the EQD Dream Crusher. Both are high quality and have ne'er had an ill word spoken about them.

I would be interested in the Dream Crusher if it wasn't for the reverse polarity... hate this shit... anyway i remember that when i used to had an Si Fuzz Face, i wanted it to have a tone knob of some sorts... or a hi cut or something

also had that problem with Fuzz Factory that is based on a Fuzz Face if i remember correctly

Maybe it's just the fact that with most Fuzz Faces I've tried or heard, they nail the exact fuzz tone that I want... so no tone knob is necessary.

Something about the germanium versions really hits me... not so much with silicon.
