Nice thread.

Stanton Moore is indeed amazing, though Galactic seems too much of a shtick to me.

(To answer your question, I would say Rahsaan Roland Kirk, but for fear of being greatly overshadowed I will refrain from doing so.)

So, the real answer is, Lloyd Knibb & Pat Place.

yeah, Galactic is my least favorite of his projects. all the Stanton Moore Trio stuff is super cool, though, and I really dig on his instructional vids, too.
they're the rare instructional vids that are enjoyable just as music performances.
