Has anyone done any RPM challenges for previous years? If you aren't familiar with it, you basically have the month of February to write and record "an album's worth of music/noise." 10 songs or 35 minutes of original music. I had a blast with it last year, though I lamed-out and didn't actually send in my CD. I gave it to all my friends though.

I'm going to do it. Not sure what my plan is yet, though. Anyone want to join in the fun? My username there is the same as here. Artist name is "Hyle."

Never done it before, but screw it, I've been meaning to record more music, and this seems a decent motivation, so I'll try to do it.

Having a "deadline" helped to put my ass in gear last year...

I only ever end up recording music if I set a deadline. I'll be joining this for my rap/hip-hop EP.

I don't know whether I'll go for a consistent style/theme or just whatever music it is I end up writing when I sit down to write. If I'm writing and recording everything next month it'll probably end up fairly similar I suppose.

I've been writing beats for the last few months and I want to get some use from them, so I'm taking a shot at some rap. Time to whore some clips. I have a bunch that I did on my DS over the summer (a lot more of that weird 8-bit sound), but I don't have any of them on my PC right now that don't sound weird (broken cable when I recorded them, so only one ear).

I find that RPM is a great way to try new things in your music. Last year, my restriction was that I could not ever play in 4/4, 3/4, or any variants thereof.

I'm going to try again, jammed with some people this morning and have some studio time booked.
