NAMM: The new Klon
Bill Finnegan shows off prototype
Bill Finnegan, the man behind the popular Klon overdrive, had the prototype of the new iteration of the pedal on display at the NAMM show in Anaheim this week. The new Klon is much smaller than its predecessor, but boasts everything that made the original one of the most sought after overdrives around. The new pedal does have one new feature, a small, inset switch on the side that will allow users to switch between the classic Klon buffer and true bypass.
Finnegan confessed that the pedal is the sonic equivalent – and then some – of the original Klon, but the internal make up is very different. He told WTDP? that it took him two years to get the sound of the new Klon to reach, then exceed, the original. He had been building the same Klon for around 15 years.
The new Klon is expected to be available sometime prior to this summer. Finnegan is no longer making the pedals himself. He has outsourced the work to a US contract manufacturer who he believes understands his passion. There are no pricing details for the new pedal as yet. He is waiting to get a formal quote from the manufacturer before pricing is set. We expect that it will retain for around the same price as the first Klon, but may end up skewing just a bit lower. I don't understand why people are already bashing. It's a great sounding OD and is rumored to be around $200.
Everyone should chill out. I for one am excited to get more info on it.

Because the fucking horse had all the fucking mojo man... there's even a hole in the new enclosure where the mojo used to be!

I don't see anybody bashing in this thread.. I was sarcastic of course, just imitated the prototype ILF about Klon post

...Is that it? I was expecting more than a slight layout/enclosure change and one extra feature. Although I guess if it's a reasonable price that'd be fair enough.

If that red box is an accurate indicator of the look of the new Klon then I sure like the looks of the 1st gen better.
