Are there any SMALL KT88-based tube amps on the market that DON'T cost a fortune? Because i could really use more clean headroom without breaking windows.

He's a member here i believe its new05002, he loves kt88's and can build you anything you can think up, and for complete custom you CANNOT beat his prices.

^ That!

He's building me a KT88 amp as we speak though it's not small. I guess you'd have to go single-ended as a pair puts out like 100W. Maybe KT66 would be an option too, Nick can answer all those questions.

By small what do you mean> Like volume? 2 Kt88s can easily shell 100W with large enough voltages but if you need a cleaner preamp that can be designed to be clean without being super loud on the output, even 2 6L6s can be clean, just ask any Fender amp owner

I mean, Kellanium is a bass player, which makes the KT88 request make more sense. But, I dunno, have you tried a silverface Fender? It might be just what you need.

Aha, we're talking DA BASS here. Def makes more sense.

You can increase clean headroom by switching out preamp tubes, too.

for bass it depends on how much ampage your going up against. A small band, 100W is fine, 2 raging 100W+ full stacks, your going to need 200-300W to maintain level with that kind of power
