Scott McKeon Fuzz, anyone heard of it?

I stumbled on this pedal when googleing Scott McKeon, one of my fav blues players.
http://www.smfuzz.comI love how McKeon makes his guitar growl like a trumpet and apparently this is his secret. It's a Fuzz Face variant of some kind using germanium, other than that the details are not discussed. I'm
fascinated but it comes to like $330 bucks shipped!!!
I'd appreciate any more info anyone has on this pedal, OR perhaps a suggestion for another Fuzz Face that sounds like it. It's hard to tell from Youtube but I'm curious if the Sun Face or Fulltone '69 could get there...
Cheers!

That's just a run of the mill Ge FF...maybe a tweaked eq curve or something. Not to say it's a bad pedal or anything, but any Germanium fuzz face variant will get you very close to that sound.

Never heard of the dude or his pedal, but 300+ for a Fuzz Face clone is stupid.

The Bonamassa FF sounds very much like that. So would the Ge SunFace or the 69, or pretty much any Ge FF.
Ask Stanimal to build you one

Yeah, 300+ is pretty stupid. I'm definitely not buying one, but I am curious what kind of mojo they used... maybe I could make one

$300 for this? You've got to be fucking kidding me.
No mojo in there.

I totally agree, $300 is not cool... but there must be
something in there! It sounds great.

It's the trannies...Germanium transistors have a different sound than Silicon transistors. Nothing magical, just science. If you're interested in the nitty gritty of fuzz faces I'd highly recommend reading RG Keen's "the technology of the fuzz face", especially if you're interested in building your own. Look it up on your search engine of choice.

I'd say the 1962 Strat and 1964 Vibrolux have something to do with it too ...
Also...
