Do some searching on TalkBass... there's a few guys over there that have GB rigs.

I hope yer not gonna have to pay shipping though... yikes.

That said, I have no idea what the preamp is like on that beast. 100 watt el-34 heads are about as common as herpes, though.

It would be a decent deal if it weren't for the shipping.
Shipping puts it at $450 which is pretty close to V4/Bassman/Sunn 200s/Traynor/othercoolshit price ranges.

For that price, even with shipping it's worth a try. I'd check to see what (if there is a way) the resale value would be if you didn't like it. But Genz Benz stuff is high quality stuff, or atleast the stuff I tried. When I saw the Doobie Brothers their bassplayer "Skylark" had a genz benz 2x12 combo or it might have been a 1x15, I don't know, BUT, it sounded awesome, so worth a try if you're willing to take the risk.

I wouldn't. Anything for more than $100 to buy something over the internet that you can't return (or pay twice what you paid to ship it back) is too big of a gamble. I don't like Guitar Center, but their used dealy is pretty good. Look for some amps there. Sometimes the shipping is free, so if you don't like it go to the local GC, return it, and you've lost nothing.

Heard they were quite mediocre in terms of higain mesa-stylish amps... but for that kind of money... i'd say yes

mesa is synonymous with a scooped midrange to me, so blehhh. at least for guitar.

Bassists seemed stoked on the Genz Benz Shuttle line of amps. Ed Friedland the "Bass Whisperer" is a proponent of their bass gear. From what I've heard they sound good and seem reliable enough.

I can't really comment on their guitar gear however. I'd say for a bass centric company,...maybe their guitar gear is not as good. But $400-$450 for a 100watt tube amp is not asking a lot IMO and your expectations shouldn't be as high as picking up something similar.

Food for thought; you may be able to modify the tone stack to get rid of that mid scoop.

I will say that I've seen some cheaper tube amps locally on CL. Specifically a Peavey VTM60 for like $150-ish. That's a ton of amp for not a lot of money and supposedly is closer to a Marshall sound. Single channel amp though,....if that makes a difference to you.

At this point I'd say keep looking.

Get an old Peavey tube head. They get loud as hell and are built like tanks.
