2 reasons I can think of:

1.) $170 cheaper
2.) knobs for every function for people who hate multi-function knobs and digging through menus. (which I admit the phatty is not really BAD about, but it's at least a reason)

ah that makes sense,,,i thought the phatty had dedicated knobs, no?

menu diving is for the birds.

The phatty is not so much menu diving as other synths, but no, the knobs are multifunction, depending on which button is selected in each section. The Virus that my group uses is a hundred times worse (but sounds too good to get rid of)

I've been thinking about one of those for my slimphatty... I am interested a little but it would have to really have it's own sound for me to buy one vs a mopho or something down the line.

I hear you on options and alternatives -- if I already had a Moog, I'd look to DSI next. Great price for a real Moog, synth, though, and I was an enormous Rush fan as a kid, so Taurus pedals are an irresistible draw to me.

I just love the Moog aesthetic...I wish the dashboard in my car looked like that.

Amen. I don't think I'd leave my car if it was nice jet black with orange soft lights, large dials, and white caps text all over everything
