Is there anywhere to buy

A new wah enclosure. Not one that has guts in it, but one that's bare bones, has no paint, no nothing. Just the enclosure. I've looked in google and on DIY Stompboxes and unless I'm just plain retarded (probably) I'm not locating them.
HELPS ME!

Smallbear Electronics! They are kind of pricy though, you'd probably be just as well buying a used wah off ebay and gutting it

smallbear or your favorite chineese distributor are your only options. musik ding and banzai also have them I think

Most of the chinese distributors make you order 50+. The ones on small bear are like $50, which is not worth it unless I'm powder coating and didn't want to completely strip the thing...and even then.

buy a broken crybaby or a working ernie ball volume pedal. it depends on what you want to do with it.

Yeap. That gristle I did for Haki used a gutted crybaby that I got for less than $40 I think; plus I still have the wah circuit to do something with.
If you're not planning to make custom face/base plates, or have it powder coated etc, I would go the used wah/vol pedal route.

A while ago I put up on craigslist that I was looking for a broken wah to use the enclosure for something and I got two people that just gave them to me and one dude asked for $5. Funny thing is two of them just had loose wires.

So now you have 2 wahs and something built in to an enclosure?

Seems like a good deal for $5..

I would actually like to get one that I could etch a design on. Not sure if there are just plain shells. I found a dude from a couple years ago on DIYStompboxes that made some Wah enclosures that look pretty fuckin' badass.
http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/i ... c=70470.20I'd love to get something like that. But the broken enclosures is a great idea as well! I'm going to put an add on Craigslist. Surely someone will just be throwing something out. Happens all the time. Maybe I'll check some pawn shops too.

I made an expression pedal. It doesn't have much range though. After seeing Jero's Gristleizer I'm tempted to scrap it and build one when the pcbs are back in stock.

Hmm, what parts of the shell do you plan to etch? You'll possibly need/want to remove everything from the used one before doing anything...the paint is obvious, but the rubber tread, the 3 rubber feet under the treadle (two infront by the bypass, one on the heel), the rod/post that holds the treadle to the base, few screws & plastic parts, etc. Etching creates heat so you'll want to watch that if you plan to leave the rubber parts on. I've had success removing the tread cleanly in one piece, but the little feet are on there pretty well sometimes, others just pop off so
Those homemade wah shells are pretty badass (albeit a tad huge), but I bet they cost a fortune. I would charge a lot of money for that kind of work.

Another good suggestion, though the times I've tried to acquire them, they have been just as a much as a used wah

those enclosures on DIYstomp look sexy as hell. the fact that he made them by hand and they don't look hand made is really impressive.
