My friend just stopped by and said the guys at the local music store have a matching Jaguar and jazzmaster, both Japanese and made sometime in the early 90's. That's about all I know atm, and they're not sure quite how much they could let them go for (they are on consignment), but they told him they could definitely sell him the pair for $1400 if he bought both. He only wants the jag, so he wondered if I was interested in the jazzmaster. And he was going to try to beat them up a little more on price since I guess the jag has some nicks and whatnot. If the jazzmaster turns out to be in good shape, should I go for it? Is700ish a good price?

I'd offer 1000$ for the pair. Then negociate to go up to 1200$.

Provided they're in good condition, $700 is fair but, definitely see if you can talk them down.

I bought my old lake placid blue jazzmaster for $650 in pretty excellent condition about 1.5 years ago. $700 seems fair-ish.
