A question

I bought a pedal board kit from Planet Waves that makes 5 cables. I can buy two 3-packs of patch cables from them for half the price.
Is custom cable length and gold plated connectors enough of a benefit to justify staying with the kit rather than getting my money back?

1. Custom cables: yes
2. Gold Plating: no
if you have any specific routing needs you'll probably need a strange length of cable. my drives are stacked into two rows on my board so I need a few custom pieces. my solution is buy cheapish patch cables and have one PW kit for any custom work you run into.

StupidDream88 (
memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=5331) sells patch cables on his site that go from 4"-24" in 2" increments.
That's about as customized as you can get without making them yourself. They have the pancake jacks too!

They go from $9 for a 4" cable up to $12 for a 24" cable.
That tells you most of the money is in the ends.
What other 4" cable with pancake ends would you suggest?

Evidence Audio is a premium cable, probably what you're paying for.

yeah. that's not a lot. the 3" cheapie Hosa ones i love with the pancake heads are about $5 a pair. and that's the CHEAPIE ones that you have to tighten down the screws on the head every 6 months or superglue 'em.
when i built a butt-load of cables myself with Mogami and pancake heads it ended up about $4 or $5 a cable i think. and that was doing all the work myself.
