Haaaaalp me!

I have lots of muffy fuzz pedals that I use for a great many things. But sometimes I want to sound more hard-edged and metallic like this.

I know he is running an old HM-2 into a JCM800 here. But what are some other pedlulz that could pull of this sound? Perhaps ones that could stack well with my fuzzes too.

Would a RAT do it? :idk:

DS1 AND DS2. srs though. Ive been trying to ape his shit (specifically hymns) for so long. just turn up LOOOOUD. and let the notes ring bro. Dont try and fuck with a muff cause fragile harmonics and shit...

loudness is a big part to the JB sound though. Just because feedback. I mean youre just not getting that sound unless somebody is calling the cops...

Metal picks also.

And the fact that he is Justin Broadrick. His pedigree makes amps louder, such is the girth of his heft.

Forget the fact that it's a Boss. The HM-2 is fucking massive. It really is one of the best distortion pedz I've ever played.

...BOSS distortions do the metallic edge really good, consider it a booster fueling the tube amp distortion. :animal: Other than that, most old fashioned distortion pedals can do it, but with separate hi, lo, and mid range tone controls You can get closer to the exact sound.

And if You use active three way tone control, don't go for stupid things like mid scoop right away just because we're told that's the metal way to do it. You want that midrange for feedbacking crazy and full range gives more presence to Your crunchy slow riffage. :thumb:

Amen on the not-doing-mid-scoop thing,
i had a HM-2 and just turn everything on to max , tune to C put into tube amp distorted to hell and stand back.
Actually a cheap dod death metal can do something similar
Bizarrely the cheap boss/dod metallic cheap sound that gives it the edge
