It's been mentioned here & there, but I thought it deserved its own thread... mainly because I just pulled the trigger on one. :p

Thanks to Behndy for reminding me about it! You're a bad, bad, bad, wonderful GAS inducing man.

Glad to see them moving away from the line 6 modules. They are for sure a company to watch.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAH BOYEEEEEE!!!!!

EDIT: And yeah, I totally agree with bronzetalon - the ToneCore modules were a handy way to get out there, but I think Red Panda will ultimately do better putting out their own proprietary boxes. It's so good to see digital fx people going beyond emulation, and into the weird/unique/creative digital stuff.

now if they would put out the bit crusher as a stand alone

I don't know if I'm imagining this, but I think either Curt or eti said that was going to happen...

Outstanding!

Thanks for the heads up!

Love this demo!

Sounds awesome! I always thought their pedals looked really cool but were limited by being line 6 module things, but I guess they sorted that out. I'm intrigued to see what else they put out (and I really hope behndy ends up getting one in the euro tourbox as I think might be happening?).

:omg:

Thanks guys!

Yeah, there will be a standalone bitcrusher in 2012 (not identical to current one), and I have a few other things brewing in the lab. I'm a EE, but since it was a while since I had done circuit design the ToneCore modules were a great way to transition back to hardware. I had been doing DSP modeling stuff but got tired of it, so here's the result ;)

Behndy was kind enough to make space in the euro tour box for a Particle - the pedal is at Behndy's house and very excited to make the trip.

Very excited to try this out when it gets here, the demo is certainly GAS inducing.

Curt!!! Do you think you guys would ever plan on doing a box that can handle clean polyphonic octaves like the ehx pog stuff while doing other crazier things. This is one area in the effect world where there really isint competition and I think it would be cool if the pedal could do more than just the clean polyphonic stuff...maybe a way to make it progressively more glitchy (like when a digitech whammy does the octave thing) or something.

In time...one of the challenges is that the more powerful DSPs are expensive in small quantities and not friendly to hand soldering. Particle is the result of pushing a lower end DSP to its limit. It has a totally different character than the granular prototype I did using ToneCore modules (which was cool, but sounded more like a Max patch). I spent a year bumping up against constraints and coming up with clever solutions to get past them. It was a combination of picking a DSP that was practical for our first custom hardware, but also loving the sound that all of the clever tricks produced.

The frequency based effects like the POG require a faster DSP, which is a bit of a manufacturing challenge at the moment, but I am working on that!

That's kinda what I figured but you seem like the guy up to the task. Put me down for one once you have something like that figured out.
