Weird ideas

So I had two brilliant ideas I thought I should share with ILF, and I figure y'all got your share of useless shit as well.

Envelope filter, with an effects loop. So the filtering is applied after the effects, but the envelope is taken from the clean signal. Shit would sound absurdly dope with fuzz. I dunno if this has been done; I figure, if it has, someone on here has it. EDIT: apparently lots of pedals do this. Okay, new idea. Pedal with an input and output, that doesn't do anything on its own, but has an envelope follower that outputs an expression/CV signal. ANY PEDALS THAT DO THAT, SMART GUYS? :poke: :poke: :poke:

Second one, and this is a little esoteric, so bare with me: what if you split off a guitar signal, and sent one side to a really loud, distorted amp right next to you, and sent the other to a clean amp in an iso booth, then mic'd the clean one? You'd get all that tasty feedback and sustain from the distorted amp, but the recording'd be totally clean. I have no idea what that'd sound like, maybe sorta ebow-ish, but way more fun?

Go, post your idle gear daydreams. :hello:

I believe the meatball does that.

The pigtronix envelope filter can do that

Doesn't look the the Pigtronix can, in that it doesn't have a loop, but the Meatball does.

I should've thought of the meatball. XD

Basically, if you have any ideas about cool things to do with envelope filters, the Meatball already did them.

The EHX Q-Tron+ and the 3-Leaf GR2 can do that too.

yeah, EHX Q-Tron+ can do that for not a ton of money

i was just recently thinking about a very hypothetical situation where i'd somehow wire my signal path so i'd get my delays in parallel and in series at once

i once did this by multitracking and the stereo image was AMAZING...

anyway this would probabyl involve three amps and s shitton of cables and splitters, i'm not even sure if it's possible with non-stereo delays

QTron+ is awesome with fuzz. Best fuzzes in the loop have been a green Sovtek muff, Dano Fabtone, and an EHX graphic fuzz. Also really liked using the Behringer Bass Synth and the Behringer VTM Time Machine because you could drive it hard and get good grit like a Memory Man.

Now I don't have all that hooked up. I have all my current fuzz before the QTron's input, which is the Phantom Octave, Absynth and Algal Bloom, followed by a Boss DD5 with the stereo out into the Q+'s return. The PO and QT interaction is really fun.

Forget ehx :p

Just check out the 3 leaf audio GR2 or any other meatball clone like the
Robot factory meatwad or the Barge Concepts Grinder

Doesn't the Dr Q+ or whatever it's called have that?
