The Pedal Builder's Playlist

I know there are plenty of builders here, and I'd imagine some have the same practice that I have when building - playing music. It's a huge part of my building process to turn on some music, and sit down to work.

I know I'm not the only one, so a thought occurred to me. What music gets my fellow builders in the creative/building mood? What's your go-to song, or album?

I'd love to see this thread turn into a sort of group playlist. Builders posting songs, or albums that they put on when building.

Post what you've been listening to!

Defo listen to lots of music while building but don't have anything particular that is always the soundtrack to my work but I'll play along with the thread by listing what I listened to this afternoon while building an echobase and a Dobsky Fuzz.

Howlin Rain - Magnificent Fiend
Saviours - The Eye Obscene/Crete'h 12"
High On Fire - Snakes For the Divine (well half it before turning it off again)
Serpent Throne - Battle Of Old Crow

That's when I usually listen to records. Some go to's are: Beethoven, Earth Wind & Fire, Jim Croce...then I like listening to punk and stuff sometimes too. Makes me work faster. Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables by the DK, OpIvy, ANS, etc

Great idea for a thread!

I was listening to this awhile back on repeat:

Sonic Youth Simon Werner a Disparu (aka Lights Out) - great instrumentals

Last night I was listening to Oren Ambarchi

Sometimes jazz

A lot Feelies and lately some Dream Syndicate Days of Wine and Roses. Had 3 songs on the new Low album on repeat for awhile. Rotated the new Pj Harvey album for awhile...

When the beer starts flowing I usually turn it up with some bad brains, minor threat, fugazi, b.a.l.l., sonic youth, Vermonster, lately Atomizer by Big Black,
Iron Cross, the Cows.

Also, a lot of what I do lately is listen to archived Henry Rollins show. He always plays some old punk classics and then ventures into African music, jazz,
and new shit. WFMU has some great archived show that I listen to and always hear some fresh sounds there...

I think its good to just find the most wacky outer space type shit that helps you dream with your eyes open. sometimes I fall back on vintage synth pop.

lately my builder music has been

tame impala
bongzilla
twin shadow
lcd sound system
[any old school reggae dub]
[anything that sounds like radiohead but not radiohead]

I forgot how much I liked that band. Put in one of their cds recently cause I needed something different and was all :animal:

Red gets played pretty often around here. One of my favorite used books/record store finds (was $2).

Grand Funk Railroad is another common one for me.

if im just building i prefer things like vitalic or crystal castles or stereolab etc. something upbeat. but if im designing i usually listen to radio podcasts (this american life, quirks and quarks, lately the charlie rose brain series etc) or play movies ive already seen in the background. for some reason music is too distracting but chatter is not.
