Warrrrrprpppr?!?!

After listening to the ambient mobile jams (which have been my "last thing to listen to before I sleep" for about 4 days now), I thought I'd have a look at what else was on Brian's Soundcloud (stalker boyfriend style) and came across a demo for the warrrrrprpppr.

I have no idea what the warrrrrprpppr is, but it sounds like an instant Boards of Canada and I think I love it.

Brian, can you shed some light on this? Please tell me its a pedal, I want to tread on things and make life blurry.

This one makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

it is a project that has been on my mind ever since i started building pedals. i have some really strong ideas about what i want and i really want it done RIGHT, so it'll be a while. it's still very much on my radar though...

This is amazing dude... There isn't enough unique music like this.

This sounds like some cool vibrato usage, and that mountain range idea with the pre/post eq thing. And some sort of white noise/fuzz thing going on.

:!!!:

I have been looking at getting a Seppuku Mind Warp/Mid-Fi Pitch Pirate, but I think I might be holding out now.

Is the clippy-ness from the pedal? I've been looking for something that can replicate the "Microphone can't cope with the volume" style distortion and if the effects are all generated by the Warrrrrprpppr, it seems to nail that sound pretty nicely.

If the answer to the above question is yes, you can count me as already waiting in line. I'm the sad git with the tent outside the cinema for this one, because you seem to have read my mind with what I want from a modulation(ish) pedal.

So was that altered by software? Of so what kind?

yeah i did a basic mockup of something i'm aiming for (though what i really want will be way more rad/different) in ableton live using:
multiple cascaded bluetubes echo/delays set fully wet, long delay time, no feedback. each delay uses different modulation settings.
both soft clipping and distortion - can't remember exactly what they were
a bandpass filter

for certain sounds, i try aurally create what i'm going for first (typically in software or with multiple pedals, etc) then move to the breadboard.

So is it something not too dissimilar to the new Zvex lo-fi pedal, but far more versatile and with far more unique sounds?

I've been looking forward to this ever since Brian first mentioned the possibility ages ago. Everytime I listen to Boards of Canada I think of this, and it gets me a little excited.
