So,

I just got a 5K this past week, and gigged it on Saturday.

It had a beautiful, mild, sickly, melancholy sound like an amp crying and dying. I loved it, but it seems more difficult to coax the screaming, singing, glaring oscillator tones that I used to get from my normal Ab-Synth.

They almost seem different enough to use/own both on the same board.

Thoughts?

I think the advice you'll get around here 9x / 10 is "when in doubt buy them all!"

with the gain maxed out clockwise it should squeal just like regular one! rolling back the gain will mellow out the oscillation...

hey, there are so many awesome tones to be had with the ab-synth and then tom adds a gain control for even more fun it should be a crime NOT having both on the same board!

I do! Never really noticed it being harder.

Sounds broken, i'll buy it as is for ten bucks.

Maybe, I just had the gain down too far assuming 12 o'clock was equal to the regular Ab-Synth

Yea, you have to crank it to be equal, 4k is max gain all the time. I have no problems with the osci though with gain rolled back

Gain rolles back on the 5k is doing awesome oscillation in my case.
That's how I use the AB-Synth 5k all the time.
Fuzz to maximun and gain to minimum.
