I recently bought a speaker cranker and when I have the More knob past around 2 o'clock the low end starts to sound splatty when I accent hard on low notes. Is this an intended side effect of maybe my guitar is over powering the unit.

I haven't played one so users/mr.eqd can chime in about intended effects...
but it's more likely you are hitting the amp/speakers too hard and they are farting out.

Guitar/amp?

I thought that might be a problem I know its not the speakers so it may be the power section of my amp. I have a Kustom Double cross 100W head I am running it through the rhythm channel. As for guitar I have a Yamaha AES 620 with a JB in the bridge and a random Yamaha pickup in the neck

Wow, mine does not do that at all! As a matter of fact, it's the opposite of 'splatty'. I have single coil pickup guitars, humbucker guitars, tube amps and solid state amps and my Speaker Cranker delivers a nicely defined sound on all setups. Hope you're able to work it out.

FWIW, I have heaps of pedals around here, and my Speaker Cranker has quickly become one of my big-time faves! I hope everyone who loves dirt boxes finds the time to give it a listen. There are a couple of really good demo vids on YouTube, for those who haven't heard it yet. It's a great stomper!

It could be a side affect of using buckers; I have an overdrive that does that if you have something high output going into it.
