Pedals and (omg ewwwww) batteries

So I was wondering if anyone had an answer to this. When using my CC/DC (battery only as you know) I just leave it plugged in all the time, but the battery last sooo long, like months. So why is it that if I am using a battery on any other pedal it dies overnight? I mean I know Eric is an amazing builder but what's the difference?

Without knowing off hand what a "CC/DC" is, I'd say it probably has an insanely low mA draw when it's on, and I'm told with true bypass pedals you don't need to worry about leaving your cables plugged in.

I think I have the battery it came with in mine...

Keep in mind I'm fairly ig'nant when it comes to electronics, but is it logical that fewer components in a pedal that is using standard parts = lower mA draw? I was surprised at the small amount of stuff inside my Melx2, and supposedly Mellowtones are fairly simple circuits :idk:

I did think maybe it was the whole true bypass but everything I read said they also drain when plugged in. I am beginning to think it is the amount of components/circuitry.

I put an adapter for a battery inside the CC/DC I have, and it just hangs outside the bottom, with the bottom lid screwed on. FUCK YOU MELLOWTONE I HAVE THE POWER (jk)

but, I seem to have the worst luck with batteries, none last long in any of my pedals.

I'm guessing the cc/dc just had a very low current draw.
TB pedals still drain when plugged in.

Yeah it just has a very low current draw.
As a fee for the help, please hand over your clean chan/ dirty chan

^ haha I already know that will be my last pedal to go, its an always on for me.

If he came up with a way that it only drains the battery when it's on he's a genious.

I may have almost thought of a way to do it with a 4PDT but my brain melted like halfway through

This. Things like 'simple' transistor dirt box have a low mA draw usually, where something like a reverb or delay will usually have quite a bit. That's the main reason I don't bother with batteries in high mA pedals.

it's been done before and apparently it's shit because there's a loud pop whenever you turn it on because the voltage has to jump from 0-9

This.

As explained above, low mA draw will give long lasting batteries. Overdrives, boosts, dirt, and fuzzes in general all have low mA, unless there's a lot going on in the circuit.

Batteries are generally fine in dirt, but like mentioned a few posts up, modulation, delay, reverb, and pedals like that generally have much higher mA draws.
