Just text and images. The first review on the site. A lot of work to do. Suggestions appreciated. What would you like to read? What do you look for that you can't find? I haven't finished with the web design, it's just a placeholder till I figure out what I'm looking for.

Good stuff Adam.

Nice write up! But I'd looooove to hear violin clips.

Good write-up, it's always nice to hear more stories about Brian being awesome and people loving his stuff :D

That's actually how he does custom work for me. He knows i'm a freak for the colour GREEN, and so I just say "have fun with green" and it always turns out wonderfully!! I can think of four instances of that, off the top of my head, with two for sure at least to follow, if not more :P

Appreciate the read folks.

The review isn't quite finished yet, you folks are getting a "preview" so to speak, in order to give me any advice/criticisms.

I have to do a few things; add a section detailing bass, work out some of the wording, and I'm currently editing some stuff together for soundclips (soon Monkeydancer!).

I was thinking of having a 3-4 minute demonstration for different instruments. Currently I'm cutting up a rehearsal tape of a new track we're working on called 'Navajo', literally just tiny fragments showcasing some of the sounds the pedal coaxed out of my signal before she went to visit the amp. There are nicer sections in the song than i'll be using, but these pretty clearly show some of the tones available. I have a guitar clip more or less finished, and a bass recording will be added shortly.

As it stands there's a video where I'm pretty much constantly running the violin through a minimally gritty FUCK on thehangedman.org, and Brian was kind enough to post it on www.smallsoundbigsound.com also. I didn't want to use it on this review site because I'm not wanting to pimp the Gloom incessantly through the thing. I hope to start a professional seeming, informative and hopefully enjoyable little free "magazine" for noisemakers. Same reason I'm just posting tiny fragments of jams, and won't be connecting them to us really.

Apologies for it taking so long also, I'm still streamlining the writing/review/pictures process, deciding what I'm wanting to put in the reviews, and figuring out what I want to do coding wise for the interface.

I'd move the Overview to the top of the review, and turn it into an actual overview--a bullet'd list of the knobs/features would be awesome. You start out talking about the fuck button, but you don't explain it until later. So I'm reading it and I go "what unique feature?"

I mean, we all know what it is since we're posting here, but Joe Dude won't.

And a link to the ss/BS website that isn't in the body of the text, but is instead in a separate 'graph at the end of the review.

The information is all good, and obviously this isn't Live To The People yet, but tweaking the structure a little bit would go a long way.

Excellent advice! All will be heeded. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks brother.

EDIT:

Advice has been heeded, just working out the bits and bobs of what to say. As I said, some more photos and a video are also inbound, as well as a section regarding fretless (& now also 5 string!) bass, so the layout isn't finished. Have to work out a new exit from the article so it feel like you're reading something complete.

Also going to rejig some of the wording. I really appreciate feedback on how to work out a general structure before I "open the doors" so to speak. And I'll keep these up adhering to that structure, because sound is kind of my thing. And sound being kind of my thing, that allows others that have sound as kind of their thing seema little more understandable to me. And I'm largely confused, so anything I can do to allow folks to read about sound, as it is kind of our thing, is in my eyes, a good thing.

Thing thing. Thing. Thing.

Also, Brian, you're surely a-ok with me posting a picture from your site of the standard finish, and perhaps a few of the custom enclosures you've done? Folks, if you get an email from me asking if I can perhaps use your photo, it's in regards to this. Shout outs will be handed out.

Site design is finished! Video is inbound. Got a lend of a decent camera, so in the next couple days...
