Favorite Guitarists Ever?

I dunno, I thought we should have the discussion.
Could be anything! From classical and flamenco players to those who like tojump up and down on their instruments.
Some of mine I can think of right off the bat:
Mick Ronson, especially his work with Bowie...Raunchy fuzz tones from a Marshall Major...Mid-range bliss..
Stephen O'Malley particularly in Sunn O))).
Tom Verlaine with Television. Ever listen to Marquee Moon? Go do that now if you haven't. It's all line in recording with a fender jaguar. Clean sparkly guitar work that still manages to melt yer face off.
Your turn!

Scott Kelly (Neurosis, shrinebuilder, etc...) (IMO most dynamic guitarist ever....)
Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O)))... ) (the king of pure tone.....)
Kurt Ballou (Converge...) (most emotionally conveying guitar player IMO)
Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath... He invented heavy metal how can he not be a fav)

^I think I weep a little bit every time I hear the verse riff in "Supernaut" from the sheer crushing awesomeness...
Wata from Boris is quickly becoming another favorite of mine too. So versatile!
John Lee Hooker will always be a god to me...Gotta love that droning one chord blues.

I usually just appreciate good musicians rather than debating favorites with myself, but Carson McWhirter would be up there. It's too bad he doesn't have a lot recorded.

It changes a lot on account of my modern American attention span, but right now it's a tie between Tim Collis of TTNG fame and Nick Reinhart from Tera Melos.

Mascis, Lee and Thurston, Ira Kaplan, Ripley Johnson, Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, Hendrix, Neil Hagerty, Al Cisneros and Matt Pike, Ron Asheton, Jason Spaceman and Sonic Boom, John Fahey, whoever the dude from Orchestre Poly-Rythmo was, Zoot Horn Rollo, Mick Ronson, Eddie Hazel, Creston Spiers, Duane Denison, Hubert Sumlin, Keith Fuckin' Richards, Richard Lloyd and Tom Verlaine, tons. I love the stupid guitar.
